from reading this account of saint patrick's life, it seems to properly celebrate saint patrick's day we should fast and pray and preach. i have nothing against celebrating irish heritage, or even celebrating a vague sense of irish heritage, green clothes and beer. just seems it should be called "drunken green parade day."
Braxton Hicks contractions
for those natural foods folks out there, an interesting tidbit A natural flavour is not necessarily healthier or purer than an artificial one. When almond flavour (benzaldehyde) is derived from natural sources, such as peach and apricot pits, it contains traces of hydrogen cyanide, a deadly poison. Benzaldehyde, which is derived through a different process (by mixing oil of clove and the banana flavour, amyl acetate) does not contain any cyanide. Nevertheless, it is legally considered an artificial flavour and sells at a much lower price. Natural and artificial flavours are manufactured at the same chemical plants, places that few people would associate with Mother Nature. Calling any of these flavours "natural" requires a flexible attitude toward the English language and a fair amount of irony.
we went to hols ob/gyn yesterday for a routine checkup, and she said that hols was 2cm dialated, 80% effaced, and that lil' abigail was at -1 station. hol's hasn't had any "real" contractions yet, but it looks like we may see this baby's face before the due date! stay tuned...
